To Your Health

My Facebook feed is full of grief right now.  Grief is permeating the very air right now.  Many people I know are dealing with severe illness and/or death of a loved one due to COVID.

I'm seeing prayer requests, GoFundMe links, tributes, and families torn apart.  In a town this size, we are all devastated.  Many people I know will never be the same.  It didn't have to be like this.

The vast majority of it is avoidable.  100% of the deaths in Tillamook County thus far have been unvaccinated people.  100%.

Those people would have still been with us.

Yes, there are breakthrough cases, but nearly 90% of the local COVID cases are unvaccinated.  Very few vaccinated breakthrough cases end up hospitalized.

What if there were something you could do that could save your loved ones immeasurable grief, something free. Something that could prevent you from being bankrupted by medical bills or having lifelong chronic health issues.  There is.

Put aside mandates for a moment.  This isn't political, it's about your health.  Think about how you have an opportunity to take charge of your health and prevent the unthinkable.

I don't want anyone else to die like this.  COVID is a horrible, isolating way to die.  I don't want it to happen to you.  I don't want anyone else to have their life destroyed because they lost you.  I don't want you to have to live with the horror of knowing you infected someone who later died.  It's bad enough losing someone you care about without being the reason.  It's a heavy load and you don't deserve it.

My wish for you: good health, peace of mind, stability, and the opportunity to grow old and make a lifetime of memories.

If you are considering getting vaccinated, just give it some thought and I'm here to support you.  Let's make it happen.

  1. A heartfelt plea. I hope, at least, one person reads this and acts accordingly. We are in scary times. This is so preventable. Thank you, Romy, for expressing what so many of us are feeling. Sadness, frustration and fear abound lately. There is another way. People, please follow the science. Also, examine your beliefs and see if they are compatible with losing another resident of our county. Denial will not make this stop. We must be fierce and proactive. Please! Get vaccinated.

Father's Day

I spent this last Father’s Day in silent, burning rage at my dad, and it’s taken me three months to sort it out enough to write.
